Marina Sands Bay Opening

1000 Best Casino Gambling Secrets

Finally the soft opening of Singapore 2nd integrated resort - Marina Sands Bay

Singapore throws open the doors of its second casino Tuesday as part of a 5.5 billion US dollar complex built by US gaming giant Las Vegas Sands.

Marina Bay Sands, located next to the financial district, will open at the locally auspicious time of 3:18 pm (0718 GMT). The number eight sounds like the word for prosperity in Chinese.

Singapore gave the green light for casino gambling in 2005, setting off a flurry of construction that went ahead despite the city-state slipping into recession in 2008 because of the global financial crisis.

Its first casino, the 4.4 billion US-dollar Resorts World Sentosa, opened for business on February 14.

Marina Bay Sands was originally set to open at the end of 2009 but faced repeated delays caused by a number of factors, including material and labour shortages and financial problems due to the latest global economic downturn.

Tuesday's opening includes the casino and 963 out of 2,560 hotel rooms, a portion of the shopping mall, some restaurants, an exhibition centre and the events plaza.

The remaining hotel rooms and suites, a skypark and more shops will open on June 23, while a museum, theatres and other stores will start operations later in the year, the management said.

Officials hope the casinos will help Singapore achieve a target of attracting 17 million visitors a year generating over 21 billion US dollars by 2015, boosting the services sector and reducing the role of manufacturing in the economy.

Marina Bay Sands is designed to cater to the corporate and convention crowd while Resorts World is aimed at families.

Built by Malaysia's Genting Group, the Resorts World complex includes Southeast Asia's only Universal Studios movie theme park, hotels, restaurants and convention facilities.

Las Vegas Sands also has major operations in the Asian gaming haven of Macau.

Marina Bay Sands Massive Recruitment

Take A Tour Of... Las Vegas

This is definitely good news for job-seeker, Marina Bay Sands looking to mass hire another 5000 staffs.

Extract from channelnewsasia latest news.

SINGAPORE: Marina Bay Sands has launched its final burst of hiring before it opens on April 27.

Singapore’s second integrated resort aims to recruit some 5,000 people in various positions over the next 60 days.

Marina Bay Sands said almost all its dealers are Singaporeans. Already, there are 3,600 casino staff on board and about 1,800 of them are currently being trained at a recruitment centre located at Mountbatten Road.

The training started six weeks ago. Casino staff have to undergo a seven—week stint at the training centre, familiarising themselves in various forms of gaming.

The centre also acts as a one—stop hub for applicants to walk in and apply for jobs at the upcoming integrated resort.

Marina Bay Sands has said that it will start operations in phases. Phase one will see its casino, celebrity chef restaurants and some retail outlets open to the public.

Unlike Resorts World Sentosa, which targets leisure travellers, Marina Bay Sands is focusing on high—end business travellers as well as the meetings and convention sectors.

Singapore Opens First Casino

Finally Singapore First Integrated Resort Casino is open.

Extract from channelnewasia.

SINGAPORE (AFP) - – Singapore opened the first of two casino resorts Sunday, part of a multi-billion US dollar bet to transform itself into a hot tourist destination and reduce the economy's reliance on manufacturing.

The casino at Resorts World Sentosa welcomed its first punter -- a middle aged Singaporean woman -- at the auspicious time of 12:18 pm (0418 GMT) on the first day of the Chinese Lunar New Year.

When pronounced in the Cantonese dialect, 12:18 sounds like "prosperity". The first bettor was followed by an initial crowd of about 200 enthusiastic gamblers and within hours of the opening, hundreds more were queuing up outside. Ushers gave out free bottled water and ice cream in the sweltering tropical heat.

Resorts World Sentosa, which is on Sentosa island, a former British garrison linked to the main island by bridge, is owned by Malaysian gaming giant Genting Group.

The construction of Resorts World Sentosa, together with the Las Vegas Sands' casino resort, Marina Bay Sands, is costing more than 10 billion US dollars.

They will also offer visitors a range of glitzy hotels, restaurants and luxury goods shops.

Genting's casino complex includes a Universal Studios movie theme park, which it opened Sunday for sneak previews ahead of full operations.

The government has also put in safeguards, including imposing a 100 Singapore dollar (71 US) entrance fee for Singaporeans and permanent residents and banning anyone declared bankrupt from the casinos outright.

Resort World Sentosa Opening on 14 Feb @ 12.18pm

Singapore’s first Integrated Resort (IR), Resorts World Sentosa
(RWS), will begin the first day of the Tiger year with the soft-opening of its casino and a preview opportunity to stroll through the amazing environments at Universal Studios Singapore and enjoy the specially themed dining and shopping venues that will complement the incredible attractions, rides and shows that soon will be revealed.

The casino, the Resort’s much-anticipated attraction, will have its first play at an auspicious hour with a private ceremony and welcome its first public guest at 12.18 pm. A day of festivities at the Integrated Resort has been planned to mark the red-letter day, including the debut of its public attraction, Lake of Dreams, and evening previews at its Universal Studios theme park.

The casino opening is part of the initial phased opening of Singapore’s first IR that began on 20 Jan 2010 with the opening of its four hotels: Crockfords Tower; Hotel Michael; Festive Hotel; and Hard Rock Hotel Singapore. Its shopping and dining promenade, FestiveWalk,soft-opened on 30 Jan 2010.

RWS Universal Studio

Many are expecting resort world sentosa casino opening this weekend but latest report from channelnewasia says Universal studio may be open few weeks later

SINGAPORE: Expecting Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) to open its casino in time for Chinese New Year, those seeking the thrill of theme park rides will have to wait a little longer.

Media reports this week had speculated that RWS’ casino and Universal Studios theme park will open in time for the festive holidays.

Media reports understands that Universal Studios Singapore will throw open its gates a few weeks later after it completes the final safety checks.

Responding to queries, RWS spokesman Robin Goh said: "We are on track to opening the theme park in the first quarter of 2010."

Analysts said that while the ideal situation is for both the casino and theme park to open at the same time to capitalise on the CNY holidays, RWS can still expect to reap dividends from opening the casino first.

"Chinese New Year is the best time to open. That is when they get the most publicity. It is also nice to start the New Year with a casino."

But with the weekend inching closer and no firm date for the casino opening announced, it may now be too late for tourists to fly in to gamble at the RWS casino.
as flights to Singapore are full and hotels in Sentosa are fully booked.

Genting Casino License & Opening Date

Genting Singapore had announced that Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) received its casino licence from the Casino Regulatory Authority on last Saturday.

Current four hotels and more than 20 restaurants and shops have opened at the integrated resort on Sentosa. RWS has not said when the casino and the Universal Studios theme park would greet the public. An announcement is expected today from the company.

Still, many market watchers are betting that the casino will open before Chinese New Year, which arrives this Sunday. According to Mr Boey, Chinese New Year crowds at other casinos are typically two to three times that of the average.

RWS had submitted its application for a casino licence in October last year and provided the Casino Regulatory Authority with more information in December. Application processing takes about three months if the paperwork is in order.
